Facing Porto-Pollo towards the south, the tower of Campomoro retains the powerful memory of Barbaric raids and particularly the Sartene sacking of 1583 which determinated its construction. This terrible episode and all those that took place at that time generated many legends. Not far from Tizzano, the prehistoric site of Palaggio was named “the cemetery of the Turks”, while the famous dolmen of Cauria was named “the house of the devil”. From Filitosa to Cauria via Campomoro, you will discover the most famous Corsican megaliths that are among the most imposing in the Western Mediterranean, as well as the history of the construction of a tower which was one of the few defensible places of the island.
